Yin Yoga is a slow-paced yoga practice that targets and stretches the deep connective tissues of the body. In a Yin yoga class, you will practice a series of passive postures, that mainly work the lower part of the body. Postures are held for up to 5 minutes or more, working on improving the flow of energy, plus to balance the body, internal organs and central nervous system; meaning you will experience an overall calmness but equally, if you are tired and crave energy, it will improve your energy levels. Yin Yoga is suitable for everybody (beginners welcome).
Pilates is the body science that will help you move better, feel better, and be stronger no matter your age, fitness, gender or ability. This form of movement is a much needed medicine for our bodies which have become repetitively and habitually sedentary over time. In class, you’ll follow a sequence of biomechanical movements that helps your mind connect to your muscles in a way that improves the functionality, flexibility and strength of your body.
It’s become a necessity to reconnect our brains to our bodies, to make neuromuscular connections, to learn how to activate all the muscular layers (especially the deep core muscles) and switch on our kinetic chain of muscles, tendons and fascia which are designed to keep us strong, protect us from injuries and help us move freely, comfortably and energetically.
Barre is an energetic and fun class which leaves you feeling alive and empowered by its music and sequence. Suitable for beginners it is a combination of ballet, dance and pilates mat exercises, simplified to sculpt the body through multiple repetitions. Hatha refers to a physical yoga practice. The word “haha” is translated as “with effort” or Sun (Ha) Moon (Tha). So translated to mean, “with effort in a balanced way”.
Classes start with Sun Salutations followed by different yoga postures selected for the day. Unlike our Vinyasa classes, postures are not linked together, they’re held for longer, it’s easier to understand alignment cues, feel the poses and refine them. Also good if recovering from shoulder or wrist injuries.
Expect to sweat! Holding poses is hard work!
